GROUND TRANSPORTATION

Airport Transfers from Montego Bay to Negril:

• Gecko Family Package holders will be picked up at the airport by our professional drivers and will travel in style. Just present your voucher to your driver.
• Independent CHNY revelers will arrange a ride through one of our trusted drivers from our Gecko family in Jamaica. The price for this service is $60 for one to two people and $30 for each extra person.

• Over the years CHNY has formed relationships with several dependable drivers.  We will be adding to the list below once we have gathered more contact information. We suggest you choose from the following list:

• You may also show up and grab any taxi at the airport, but you expect to haggle your price. A taxi to Negril should cost from $50-$75 for one or two people. Additional riders can expect to pay $30. Tell the driver the price you are willing to pay before getting in the taxi. If you ask how much, you will likely be quoted a higher price and then have to haggle.
  
  
• The least expensive option is a bus from the MBJ airport which will cost $15-20 per person each way. Go to the TROPICAL TOURS desk or the JUTA tours desk at the airport right after your flight arrival and buses will be getting ready to depart to Negril at that time. The bus will drop you off at your accommodations. If you are staying off the beaten track you will want to hire a private cab.
  

General Ground Transportation

Private taxis are available everywhere in Jamaica.

DO NOT SIT DOWN IN A CAB BEFORE YOU AGREE ON A PRICE!!
Only ride with licensed cabbies or friends.

Cab rides are generally about $5 for one or two people to ride from the Negril beach to the Negril cliffs (or reverse).

A private taxi from Negril to the CHNY2k8 site should not cost more than $10-12 for 1-3 people. The reverse trip should cost the same. Late night cabs cost more than day time or early evening cabs. Please don't pay $10-$12 per person as it creates an inflation in prices that the cabbies will come to expect.

Renting cars/motorcycles/mopeds/bikes

Cars should be rented at the airport in Montego Bay rather than in Negril, as the cost will be cheaper and the rental companies more reliable. Driving in Jamaica is not for the inexperienced or the faint-hearted.  They drive on the left side of the road with the steering wheel on the right side. Be sure to get an automatic!

You may rent mopeds, motorcycles, and bicycles in many places around Negril.  CHNY LLC is not responsible for any accidents or equipment damage, so make sure you understand the rental terms before paying.
